What's the best value worktop where an undermounted sink could be used? I'm guessing that the work top needs to be a solid material as the side of it will show (and need to be waterproof) where the cut out for the sink is. Unless there is a way of finishing that edge with a non-solid material worktop?

Betta Living Kitchen
So while we were fully convinced that we would go with a Howdens kitchen, we got roped into a 70% off kitchen deal with Betta Living. Visited a few showrooms in Lakeside and we were very intrigued by the quality of design. The sales guy did the usual measure up and design. It was a £20k kitchen substantially reduced and the quality seemed good. However, there are some mixed reviews about the fitters. I don't know whether to go for a local fitter or their fitters. I don't even know if they...

Howdens Kitchen
Hi All,
I am fitting a howdens kitchen and seem to be some fitting kits missing from the base units.
I have the following units:
1000mm corner unit
1000mm sink unit
1000mm base unit
500mm drawer unit
600mm base unit x2
500mm base unit
600 oven unit
The fitting kits I have are labeled;
FITNB10HLB x2
FITNB6HLB x2
JF1NBDP x1
I am thinking that the FITNB10HLB is for the 1000mm base units and the FITNB6HLB is for the 600mm base units,
But don't know what the JF1NBDP is for.
Anybody any ideas?

Single Oven plus Microwave in standard under unit oven housing
Hi
I can see that the Ikea base units (which are 70 or 80mm taller because they have 80 or 70mm shorter legs and kickboard) have an oven housing which, with a differently positioned shelf, will enable the installation of both a single oven and a built in microwave. One on top of the other.
Do other suppliers do these taller base units or are they all designed to have 150mm plinths?
Has anyone installed a microwave and a separate oven in a 600mm gap under a work top?
Thanks!

Fitting an induction hob flush with top of worktop?
Can one fit an induction hob flush with the top of the worktop so that there is less risk of the corners being chipped?
The worktop will either be timber, granite or a Bushboard style composite.
Thanks

Integrated washing machine and tumble drier next to each other
Hi,
Just fitting my new kitchen. Have fitted my last three but this is the first time I have fitted built under integrated appliances. Will have a corner cabinet, sink cabinet, then the integrated washing machine, integrated dryer and finish with a Drawer cabinet.
I have end panels for the side of the sink unit and the drawer unit nearest to the appliances but do I need to put anything in between the appliances such as another end panel. Otherwise the doors would but up to each other or...

Want to remove 'peninsula' from one-piece T-shape worktop
Hi.
We have moved into a place where the previous owner bought an ex display kitchen which just does not work in this space.
There is what looks like a one piece huge T-shaped worktop with hob on the right-hand arm and sink on the 'bottom' section. Ths worktop looks like a 'Corion' granite-effect but underneath its got a visible chipboard-like core.
We want to try to separate the sink section so we have separate "island" we can put elsewhere and a straight long worktop. (And then put the...

Wall units on a plasterboard stud wall -help!!!
Hi, I'm in need of help and reassurance please!!!
Fitted a b and q kitchen for my sister over the weekend. She lives 4 hours away and it was incredibly rushed job.
I was originally going to mount the walk hung units on a large wooden baton hidden in the plasterboard between joists. However when I arrived the gap between the 2 plasterboard a sheets was too small and the cavity was honeycomb like inside an old interior door??
Due to time I tried a brown rawl plug in a snug hole and it felt...

shop kitchen quotes - help!
I am opening a salad/sandwich bar and need to refit a shop previously used as an office. There is currently a toilet and sink in the shop which I was hoping will allow for a couple of more sinks to be fitted. Is this possible?
I will also need the shop rewired so I have electric points in the right place and lighting fitted.
As well this I will need a new ceiling of some sort (suspended), a partition wall added and the floor tiled.
I have no idea where to start looking for quotes, even...

Unsupported Oak Worktop
Hi,
I'm installing a 27mm solid oak worktop as an island. It's 1720 long and 820 wide with 350mm units at each end and there is a gap in the middle to sit at of around 990mm. I've put 1 supporting leg in the centre of the gap and want to know if this is enough to stop it bowing in the future or if I should be putting some additional strips of wood on the underside for support?
Thanks

Hanging Kitchen Wall Unit
I've got a very heavy 900mm x 900mm kitchen wall unit to hang, it comes with two hangers at the back and two wall plates that are held on by two screws, but are 4 screws enough to hold such a heavy unit? If I was to provide extra support how could I do it? The top of the units are only 60mm away from the ceiling and one side of the unit is next to a cupboard, so I can only easily access one side and the bottom of the unit.
Also the wall I'm attaching it to is plaster over something very...

Who fits kitchens on their own?
hi, I am just curious how many of you fitters work on their own. im currently fitting for b&q as well as my own private jobs. Sometimes a second person is required on some jobs. Just wondered what the going rate is for a lad/apprentice or just struggle on my own. Any feedback would be great. Cheers

Adding a breakfast bar onto existing worktop
OK, just looking for some pointers, we've just moved into a new house and we need somewhere to eat from. we plan to get the kitchen re-done within 5 years so this is kind of a long term temporary(if there is such a thing) my plan is that currently we have a worktop runs along the north side of the kitchen, it houses the sink, then d/w, w/m,t/d, id like to add a piece on from the t/d end coming south, making the counter L shaped. my question is how to add on the bar, the worktop currently has...

60 CM integrated cooker hood - uuf0360-2
Hi there,
We recently got a new kitchen fitted, and this extractor fan was put into place, however when the fan is switched on it blows air out instead of sucking? The fitter said it was installed correctly, so he went and got another one incase this one was faulty. The new one we got today (same model) does the exact same thing and he's baffled. The wires are correct and there does not seem to be any way of switching it to suck instead of blow? The manual with it does not contain any brand...

Joining worktop that is 963mm wide
Hi,
New kitchen coming that has worktop that is 963mm wide, and they require to be joined at a left hand corner.
Looking at various worktop jigs and they all seem to come with pins at a set size for the depth of the worktop, e.g. 900mm, 1000mm.
So how would go about using one to cut such an inbetween size? Are there adjustable jigs available?
Thanks
Wullie

Any one else joint worktops by hand whilst working professionally ?
The times i ve heard that's not possible !
The times i ve had to demonstrate it not using my own tools to settle the argument it is possible...
but hey ho i ve never owned a jig or router !!!
and never been back or had any complaint about a joint in all my years which is a good thing as a ten year guarantee was part of the kitchen fit !!!
Its just second nature to me, takes very little time and I don't have the cost of sharpening router bits, and never needed to hoik worktops outside...

Wall fixings for cooker hood
Hi
I am in the process of fitting a cooker hood.
Prior to the ceiling being boarded and plastered I fitted some wooden connectors between the joists to take the hood fixings at the four corners......all sounded good and I was very pleased with myself!!!
When the kitchen was fitted we.....(the missus) decided to move the island and as such the hood now needs to move back 6 inches. Two of the screws will go into the joist connectors but the back two will be going into the ceiling void....
