Cost of installing pre built kitchen units

$

Morning,

I need to get 9 prebuilt kitchen units installed which are coming from Howdens in two weeks. As they are already built I assume its a case of fixing them to wall as well as installing a laminate counter and cutting in the sink.

To do the above I've had a quote of £1000 all in - is this competitive based on work required?

removing integrated freezer door from cabinet door

I'm replacing my integrated freezer. I've managed to successfully remove the freezer door from the appliance. However, I cannot remove it from the cabinet door. The cabinet door appears to be screwed to the freezer door from the inside! I can see a screw on each side, top and bottom. The question is how to I get to them to unscrew them? I've included a picture if it helps (sorry, it came out horizontally). View attachment 10689

What Kitchen Would Experienced Kitchen Fitters Recommend?

Hi

I am looking for recommendations as to which kitchen supplier any experienced kitchen fitters
would recommend from this list, or any other fairly big brands out there that I've missed off:

B&Q
Benchmarx
Homebase
Howdens
John Lewis
Magnet
Moeben
Wickes
Wren

Looking at avoiding Ikea as from other threads on here they are bad to fit, no service access etc. Also I've read quite a few that have bad customer service etc.

So really I'm looking for the best out of a bad bunch!

Cheers

Worktop and wall Gaps!

Hi

I am fitting my first kitchen.. It is an old house and the walls are bowed, so the kitchen units are not flush against the wall. They are however level from the top and meet together at the front.

The Worktop starts flush to a tall unit and ends with a breakfast bar:

If the worktop is pushed against the wall, there is a gap with the neighbouring tall unit:

AEG washer dryer L61271 (fully integrated) dodgy installation?

Hi,have had this just fitted...Its sitting on off-cuts from the kitchen base units, which are not fixed to the floor or secured to the feet.

It fits snug at the left and right of the unit but there is a 4cm gap at the top under a granite worktop.

If you pull on the top of the unit the whole thing tips forwards, surely this cant be right?

Which router?

can anyone recommend a good trade router. My last 3 worktop joints where poor on the right hand side joints so I changed the Jig which solved the problem. However it got me thinking would a better router also improve the quality of work. I'm looking at the Festool 1400 but it's pricey and doesn't actually say in the write up that it's for work tops unlike the 2200 model.

Has anyone used the above Festool models or can recommend something at the same level.

Thanks

laminate worktop join greater than 90 degree's

Hi

Can anyone offer advice on how to join 2 worktops at about 110 degrees.

worktop hasn't been chosen yet, but is likely to be a laminate due to budget constraints.

I was originally thinking of butting a square edge laminate but have been put off these as the front edge may fail.

Would it be best to do the female masons mitre as normal, offer up the male side and mark it. then clamp the jig as firm as possible to router out the male?

Or does anyone know of an affordable (cheap sub...

Installation of induction hob over an oven

Hi,

I’ve had Whirlpool ACM847/BA installed recently - the manual (screenshot attached below) mentions the following:

“For the distance between the underside of the appliance and the separator panel below, observe the dimensions given in the figure.” - the distance is 20mm.

As I have an oven installed directly beneath the induction hob, the manual mentions the following:

“If there is an oven beneath the hob, do not install the separator...

Franke sink fitted and one clip turned up and can't pull out!

The plumber came today and fitted my Franke sink and the left hand side of the sink is sticking up. He said he needs something heavy to sit on the side of the sink to weight it down for the clip to grab hold of the work top.
I have been looking and you cannot see the clip under the sink and to me, it looks like he has not made sure the clip was in place before fitting it and it is bend in.

It already has a small dent in the part that fits to the worktop and really worried it will get worse....

Hi,

I'm looking to build a worktop using granite tiles. I was going to lay them on marine ply because it might get wet/ damp. Just come back from Travis P and having got a quote for the stuff i'm now thinking water resistant MDF. Does anyone use this for applications like this? I'm thinking two layers of 18mm to make sure there is no flex. Any advice gratefully appreciated.

Cheers

I have been asked to fit a worktop that returns 90* down to the floor to to form an end panel
I have seen them fitted, do you buy these are mitred or cut on site, even as a carpenter that will be hard to get a crisp finish

Plinths

Hello, I'm new to this forum. I was wondering if you could help me with a problem that arisen. I had a customer recently who needed her dishwasher serviced. However, when the engineer turned up he refused to service it because he couldn't remove it due to the plinth being siliconed to the tiled floor. His company policy was not to remove siliconed plinths!! So, my question is, on tiled or lino floors do you silicone the plinths to stop water getting underneath them? (I know we don't silicone...

Hi all,

welcome your views here, and possible solutions.

Planning for a granite worktop run in the kitchen. At the end of line are two appliances - integrated dishwasher and freestanding washing machine.
the appliances butt up against a tall larger unit.

given no support to the granite offered by the appliances over the 1200, and nothing at the end supporting it, any ideas on how to support the granite at the end/over the appliances?

cheers.

I need to connect a sink and dishwasher waste pipe to my external stack. The pipe run will be just under 5m.

What is the minimum diameter pipe i can use. Ideally i do not want to put in an AAV.

Many thanks,

Ben

Free standing washing machine under work surface.

I'm trying to weigh up the best solution so that the machines do not protrude past the front edge of the worktop. Last time I fitted a kitchen I put the plumbing in the under sink cupboard and the plug socket was behind the cabinet on the other side so the machine could be pushed right up to the wall and fitted flush with the front edge of a 600mm worktop.

I'm considering using a wider worktop this time so that it gives a little room behind the machines for pipes, is there any problems...

Wall cupboards onto plasterboard lining

Hi - I've fited several kitchens over the years as successful DIY projects - but always had solid brick to attach the wall cupboard brackets.

I'm now replacing my son's kitchen and this is plasterboard lined, dot and dab onto blockwork. The "cavity" between plasterboard and blockwork is approximately 15mm.

The wall cupboard fixings from the old units appeared to screw directly through the plasterboard and into the blockwork with no apparent wall plugs - a strange shallow spiral thread....

I am in the process of installing integrated appliances, one of which is a Bosch WIS28440GB washing machine.

The instructions are vague in that it says that the machine cab only be lifted up 15mm, but this does not take the machine up to the worktop level as shown in the installed pics ?

I don't an issue with having at the lower height as its high enough to have the plinth fitted and the door can be drilled to suit.

Has any one had any experience of this machine ?

Kitchen Worktops in Bay Window

$

Hi all,
I am fitting a kitchen and I am a bit unsure about how to finish the edges of the worktops.
I am fine on cutting the 90deg scribe joints but the kitchen i am fitting has a straight run of worktops along a wall but in the middle the units step back 500mm into a bay window.
This means that the bay worktop will be joined 100mm from the back of the main run.
The worktops have a rounded front edge.
Any advise would be appreciated.
