Identifying manufacturer from Logo

Hi all
Trying to source some new control knobs for a friends halogen hob. No manufacturers name on the glass plate, just a logo

Realise that more than likely there will be make/model/serial details underneath the hob but, that means taking hob out from worktop or removing oven from below

Trying to avoid this at this stage so a ID of the logo would help immensely, if anyone has a scooby do.......please shout

Thanks as ever guys and girls :)

Concrete worktop questions

Hi Screwfix,

I’m fitting my own kitchen and for the worktop am considering a DIY cast-in-place concrete slab using products from these guys (edge forms, suspended mesh, concrete additive, sealers):
https://www.concretecountertopsolutions.com/

Two questions:
1. Does anyone here have experience of doing this?
2. Anyone used these products specifically
3. Concrete to use? They’re an American firm and recommend…

Anyone on here attempted making a concrete worktop?

I'm looking for advice regarding making and installing a polished concrete worktop. I'm currently I'm just looking into this as I know its a lot of hard work but I think the pay off is worth it. I've read a few articles online regarding the process but I thought I'd just ask here in case anyone has given it a go.

Is kitchen fitting a trade?

No, it isn’t. Why not? Because kitchen fitting, at it’s highest level, is more than a trade, higher than a trade. Tradesmen are people who, because of their low self-esteem, need a piece of paper or a certificate which tells the world, and more importantly, themselves, that they are qualified to do a certain sort of job.
On the other hand, a kitchen fitter has to have the self confidence, based on his acquired skill, to qualify himself.

Can anyone tell me which worktop manufacturer prints "The Collection" on underside of worktop

Hi, I'm trying to track down the manufacturer of current worktops in the vague hope that they might still make this worktop. If anyone can help me identify the manufacturer, I'd very much appreciate it

Router issues

I'm having difficulty with a Trend T9 1/2 router fitted with a 50mm straight cutter. This is meant to have a 75mm plunge but I can't get deep enough to cut through 40mm oak worktop once the router is sitting on the the 18mm jig.

Am I missing something? I'm wary about pulling the cutter too far out of the collet in case it comes out when I'm routing.

Any comments gratefully received!

Looking at t'net for kitchen planning software to save wear on my ruler, and found them. After using their quite-nifty on-line drawing thingy (which is going to get better in a day or two they tell me...) I then had a look at what they, themselves, did kitchen-wise.

Seems ok from what I can see.

Anyone on here fitted one of theirs? Mr Ninja?

Ta much.

Breakfast Bar - no legs

Any advice appreciated!

I have some leftover kitchen worktop that I am going to cut to size and attach to the wall as a small breakfast bar. It will be about 400mm depth and 1.5m in length. I don't want support legs under the worktop so I was thinking of using 2 of these brackets.

Screwed into the underside of you worktop and bolted into the wall. - would 2 brackets be enough to support the worktop?...

I don't often do kitchens but have been asked to fit one for my other halfs mum.

I've totted up the price as per the Tradepoint kitchens catalogue, it's come to about £5k all in, so not that much better than retail price.

Given that every kitchen retailer always has a sale on, anyone know how much discount I can expect on that £5k?

Also going to be looking at Wickes (which seem to offer 50% off for 11 months of the year) and Wren...

Anyone got any tips? Cheers chaps!

How to best cut bathroom acrylic worktop

OK so this is for a bathroom not a kitchen but guess this is the best place to ask...

Am getting some new bathroom units, the worktop is likely a 12mm acrylic top found here. Its called "Calypstone", and was told it comes in a single width which will need to be cut (a) for the semi recessed basin (b) along its length with an inside corner as it will transition from 310mm (for the basin) to 200m (for the toilet).

I am in the process of installing my first kitchen and have been completely bamboozled by the oven housing.

The situation is as follows...

I have an oven housing, it is a base unit with a single drawer at the bottom. It's shown here lying on its back.

I also have four legs which have a right angled plate which appears to be designed to be screwed from both beneath and...

Cutting Splashback

Hi there, I'm trying to install the white plastic splashback in my daughters kitchen. It's the 600mm high white splashback (Howdens) with a different sized square pattern on each side.

When trying to cut it it's VERY brittle and I'm finding it exceedingly difficult to cut cleanly. So far I've found that a fine handsaw works best for the straight cuts, but for the trickier smaller cuts the jigsaw doesn't work so well. We'd got almost all the way done with a complex shape around the window...

Hi, im a long time reader od these forums, ive had a look but my questions specific.
I'll be fitting my worktop soon, its a solid oak 26mm worktop in an 'L' shape butted to each other. Worktop bolts etc sorted im just looking at what glue to use at the join.
Instructions say PVA on the top and bottom edge.
I've got loads of the cheap everbuild contractors PVA left over for using as a sealer?
Ive also got some of the gorilla wood glue aswell? Any of them suitable...
Or should i go buy myself...

Hi what's the thoughts and experience on the best seal for a worktop joint? has anyone used polyurethane glue? I've used clear silicone before but water can get in and start swelling the chipboard. Is colorfill by unika the best? Iv'e used it before and seem to remember it doesn't give you much working time and doesn't go a long way?

Switching from electric to gas hob on Island

Hello,
I'm soon to be moving in to my first home. The current owners have recently redid the kitchen and installed an island with an induction hob. I much prefer gas. I don't suspect that there will be gas supply to the island.
So I have a couple of questions, if one or all could be answered, I'd appreciate any input.

What work would need to be done in this instance? would a channel need to be dug up in the floor to feed a gas pie to the island?

On a similar note, I have a fridge that...

Getacore Worktop Repair

Hello All,
We had a new kitchen installed last year with Getacore worktops. We had noticed after a few weeks that one of the surfaces had some ripples in as if something very hot had been placed on it. Needless to say we didn't do that ourselves and the installer also denies any knowledge. We weren't initially too bothered as the ripples weren't obvious but now after about a year cracks have started to develop.
My question is this: can this be repaired ( the affected area would be say a 30cm...

I'm fitting a U shape kitchen and one corner is reasonably square and the other is quite a bit wider than 90 degrees, about an inch and a quarter over just four foot. My question is should the units always be scribed or can a butt and scribe be made out of Square? Thanks
