plinth in the way

So, I'd like to fit an end panel inbetween two integrated appliances. I'd obviously like the end panel flush with the doors but the floor level steps down to floorboards just after the plinth so I can't see how I could cut the plinth at that point.

Should I just cut a corner off the end panel so that it slides over the plinth or would that look cr*p ?

I guess I'd be doing a bit like it shows in the picture but with the visible end panel cut off. There must be a standard way of doing this?...
