Square edge lam joint

What's the definitive consensus then? We were butt joining some square edge worktops on a student accom job last year. They looked ok once edging pear'd/festooled off. Seen a few posts which suggest 10mm mitre but means buying another jig. When you see granite joined its square and filled. Wouldn't of thought much different to a tiny harras on laminate once edging is taken off and colourfill?

Worktops turned up on this job today. Square edge so happy. Glass effect and white so not so happy!
