Electric hob replacement

Two out of four elements in my electric hob have gave up the ghost. I want to get a new hob. I lifted the old hob to see where the wire goes. It goes straight down into the ground, underneath the kitchen floor tiles, over to the other side of the kitchen where it is hardwired in.

Can I just take the wires out of the back of the old hob and for them into a new one or do I need to tear my kitchen apart?
