Want to remove 'peninsula' from one-piece T-shape worktop

Hi.
We have moved into a place where the previous owner bought an ex display kitchen which just does not work in this space.

There is what looks like a one piece huge T-shaped worktop with hob on the right-hand arm and sink on the 'bottom' section. Ths worktop looks like a 'Corion' granite-effect but underneath its got a visible chipboard-like core.

We want to try to separate the sink section so we have separate "island" we can put elsewhere and a straight long worktop. (And then put the...
