According to the installation instructions for our electric hob, the distance from the back of the worktop to the back of the top glass plate of the hop when fitted should be 55mm, and this is exactly how I installed it a couple of years back. The top of the hob (front to back) is 510mm which leaves a distance of 35mm to the front of the worktop.
