Worktop joint

Daughter has opted for the worktop in the picture. It's 22mm thick and square edged. I've always fitted my own kitchens and done the joints with the router and jig with bolts underneath. However, the worktops have been around 38-40mm thick ish.
I'm concerned about routing the underneath for the connecting bolts as the bolts need 18mm to be set in which only leaves 4mm at most in this area.
Has anyone fitted this thickness worktop before and have you bolted it or used biscuits and clamped it...
