Kitchen electrics question

Hi Guys,

I have taken my old units down and on top of one of them was a double cable spur from an existing socket to a double socket which was on top of the unit.
It wasn't bedded in or anything. just came out of the plaster and up along the old cupboard.

Can I divide these cables to make 2 separate single sockets as I need one for lighting and one for plinth heater
If so, where would you suggest I install new sockets.
ie, under the worktop for the plinth heater somewhere, and maybe on...
