Copper fittings

I would really like some copper handles to go with new Alabaster coloured kitchen unit doors and drawers and maybe even a copper mixer tap to match but Im a bit concerned as to whether the copper would tarnish over time and maybe take too much upkeep to keep them looking pristine . Any forum members here have them fitted to their own kitchens who may have their own views ?
