Chair and Table Leg Pads

We are painting your kitchen floor
What is the best product to fix to the chair and table legs to prevent scratching the paint

I've heard that the preglued pads do not stay on very long

Is it possible to fit these with carpet spray or another kind of glue

Would this be ok to do without removing the glue on the pads
