can backboard be fitted over existing ceramic tiles ?

Hi all, first post, so please be gentle

I am planning a refurb of kitchen ( new worktops, new gas hob / built in electric oven/ extractor , sink & tap )

I will be getting a professional in to do this ( when i can get one available, everyone seems to have loads of work on )

So back to original question, have seen coloured backboard ( gloss charcoal ) in Howdens book, something like this would go well with the worktops we have chosen ( black mirror chip laminate - in howdens book again,...

can backboard be fitted over existing ceramic tiles ?
