Refitting new powersockets. Grinding out glass splashbacks

I need to change the power sockets in my kitchen which has a glass splashback.
The new power sockets a slightly different screw fitting to the ones originally fitted

I am thinking of using my Dremel and a diamond grinder/cutter to enlarge the existing screw cutouts by 2/3mm.

Is this do'able?

I think it is tempered glass and I've heard horror stories of the splashback shattering!!
