Solid oak worktop Expansion Gaps

Hi All,

I am about to route a solid oak worktop and my OCD tells me to double check on the forum that everything has been taken care off.

I have made a template of the worktop area using left over fridge freezer 3 mm mdf. I have left a 5 mm gap along the grain were the worktop faces the walls. I am planning on leaving 3 mm cross the grain on either ends of the worktop as one bit will be between the fridge freezer and the wall and the other bit between two walls.
